Story Behind The Addams Family

The Addams Family was created by The New Yorker cartoonist Charles Addams. The musical was developed by producers Stuart Oken and Michael Leavitt. The music and lyrics are by Andrew Lippa. The muscial depicts a ghoulish American family with an affinity for all things macabre. The cast includes: Nathan Lane (as Gomez), Bebe Neuwirth (as Morticia), Krysta Rodriguez (as Wednesday), Adam Riegler (as Pugsley), Kevin Chamberlain (as Uncle Fester), Jackie Hoffman (as Grandmama) and Zachary James (as Lurch the butler), with the newly imagined Beinekes played by Terrence Mann (as Mal), Carolee Carmello (as Alice) and Wesley Taylor as their son, Lucas, who is the object of Wednesday’s affection.

The musical starts with the focus on daughter, Wednesday. She is eighteen years old and has fallen in love with Lucas Beineke. He seems to come from an ordinary family. His parents Mal and Alice go over to the Addams' house to get to know their family better. Wednesday is developing from a ghoulish girl to a young woman in love. The family is reacting very peculiarly since this is not a common feeling in their household. Morticia and Gomez don't know what to do. The Addams Family Broadway musical is sure have you doubled-over laughing. It is a show that is not to be missed.
